Depending upon interest, need, funds and staff, the Power Program offers classes

and tutoring in the following.

CITIZENSHIP

Learn about requirements, prepare for oral interview and written test, practice

filling out paperwork, gain knowledge and confidence.

COMPUTER

Consider adding this skill to assist you in a job, to increase your access to,

information, keep in touch with friends, etc.

 

ENGLISH TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL)

Several levels of beginning, intermediate and advanced classes allow

progress in language acquisition through listening, speaking, reading  and

writing exercises

 

FAMILY LITERACY

Learn about programs available in Waltham, participate in a class

geared for parents, gain a support group.

 

GENERAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT  (GED)

Prepare to take a test in math, science, social studies, reading and writing to gain a

high school diploma equivalency. Get ready for job training or college.

 

HEALTH

Study specific topics of interest determined by participants and grant, such as, nutrition,

sleep, diseases, healthcare options, prevention, etc.

 

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Businesses hire us to provide on-site classes geared to their specific needs. These classes

help employees improve written and oral communication, increased math skills, clarify

safety issues and understand workplace culture. Employers benefit from increased safety and  

improved skills while retention encourages promotion opportunities of current employees.

 

COST

Most of our course offerings are free thanks to grants. Some have a modest fee to cover cost.

Others, such as workforce development, require negotiation between the Power Program and an

individual business to arrive at an appropriate fee to ensure that needs assessment, curriculum 

development, implementation and evaluation are achieved.
